Over the course of the last year, the Vineyard Real Estate community has lost two of its most well known and respected members. David Flanders and Carlyle Cronig. While expressing my most sincere condolences to their families I would also like to reflect on what these two men have given to the Vineyard.
Their accomplishments and achievements go so far beyond the workplace: They had a passion for both their country and community. David was a Corporal in the army during the Korean War and Carly served as a Lt. Colonel in the Army Air Corp during WWII. Both men served as board members for local banks, as well as countless other organizations and institutions. The list is both impressive and long and although well worth noting, I will leave that to others.
These two men have left us a legacy. The expertise, knowledge and values they exhibited throughout their lives have left us all with a higher level of responsibility. A responsibility, not just to ourselves or family, but to the community at large. To contribute and continue their tradition for tireless work and commitment to make Martha’s Vineyard a better place for all.
I feel truly honored to have known and worked with both David and Carly and as Debra Taylor has said, it is a gift to have known such true gentlemen.
